Ripples wins coveted charity award

Ripples is thrilled to have been awarded ‘Fundraising Initiative of the Year’ at the prestigious KBBFocus Awards for our charity Snowdon climb. Recognised as one of the most respected accolades in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom sectors, the KBBFocus Awards celebrate excellence across the industry. This year’s ceremony, held on 5th December at The Brewery in London, brought together key players from across the sector.

Our Snowdon climb was shortlisted alongside two other inspiring fundraising initiatives, ultimately winning the top prize. The challenge, held on 27th June 2024, involved over 30 franchisees, designers, suppliers and friends climbing more than 1,000 meters to reach the summit of Wales’ highest mountain. Through this effort, we successfully raised over £20,000 for our chosen charity, The Cycle.

The Cycle transforms lives across India and Africa by building revolutionary EcoSan toilets - safe, hygienic, and sustainable solutions for communities in need. With a mission centred on women, world and water, the charity also provides critical menstrual, sexual and reproductive health education, empowering schools and communities where taboos continue to hinder progress for women and girls.

Ripples Marketing Assistant, Harriet Moatt, collecting the KBBFocus Award

This year, our fundraising efforts focused on building a toilet block for the girls of Government Higher Secondary School in P. Pudupatti, one of India’s most underdeveloped districts. The school, which serves 140 girls and 15 female teachers, currently relies on a single squat pan in a dilapidated building. To reach it, they must wade through deep mud and slush, putting them at risk of infections, diseases, and even sexual assault. While donor support last year enabled the construction of a boys’ toilet block, the girls have never had access to a safe and sanitary facility of their own.

Ripples Marketing Assistant, Harriet Moat was the driving force behind the Snowdon climb, coming up with the concept for the fundraiser and ensuring all the logistics were in place to make sure the climb was a success. Harriet said, “I'm so proud of everyone who participated in the Snowdon climb to raise money for The Cycle. We overcame driving rain and gusts of fifty miles per hour, but we did it. The most satisfying thing about it all, is that the funds contributed by everyone are being used to give the girls in Pudapatti a life-changing addition. Receiving this award has only strengthened our efforts and, hopefully, brought attention to The Cycle's work and the lives they are transforming. To everyone who donated and helped us meet our goal, a heartfelt thank you is required. On top of that, watch this space since I will undoubtedly be making more people climb up a mountain again in the future…”
