Ripples celebrates completion of charity project

We’re proud to share that the brand-new girls’ toilet block, which was funded by our donation to ‘The Cycle’ charity, is now officially open.

This initiative was made possible by the £20,000 raised during our Mount Snowdon charity hike in June last year, where over 30 members of the Ripples family, including franchisees, designers, suppliers, and friends took on the challenge of climbing Wales' highest peak, battling harsh weather conditions along the way - all to support The Cycle’s mission of improving sanitation in underprivileged communities.

Before this project, the school’s 140 female students and 15 female teachers had access to just one broken squat pan, making hygiene difficult and putting their health and safety at risk. Today, they have access to modern, well-maintained facilities, including a fully equipped toilet block with toilets, a dedicated changing room with a manual incinerator for menstrual waste, new handwashing stations and a safe drinking water system.

Beyond the physical improvements, the initiative also introduced The Cycle’s ‘Happy Periods’ training, providing girls with education on menstrual hygiene along with sustainable hygiene kits containing antimicrobial reusable sanitary pads and towels. Ongoing monitoring ensures that the facilities remain in top condition, and that hygiene practices continue to be upheld.

Paul Crow, Managing Director of Ripples, reflects on the project’s significance: “We are incredibly proud to see this project come to life. Our partnership with The Cycle spans over a decade and we’ve raised more than £85,000 to help bring essential sanitation to those who need it most. Seeing the real-world impact of our fundraising efforts is humbling. These new facilities will improve the health, dignity, and education of young girls for years to come.”

Priya, CEO of The Cycle, also expressed her gratitude: “This project has changed lives in the school. It’s not only improving the health and hygiene of girls but has also created safe access and a dignified environment that supports their education and long-term wellbeing. This project is an investment in brighter futures, and we’re so grateful to Ripples for their incredible deeds and commitment to making this possible.”

The Cycle has already transformed the lives of over 350,000 people across India and Africa through its work building sustainable EcoSan toilets and promoting menstrual health education. At Ripples, we’re delighted to play a part in this important mission.
